This was something else.
I don't know where to begin but I have never felt that disrespected and stressed out like that before. I am so stressed out that I have to hold back tears, that is how bad it is. My chest hurts and I just want this to be over.
We've had an appointment at 10am at the Consulate in Frankfurt. We arrived half an hour early, stood in line got our ticket with the number (very important) and waited upstairs in the waiting area. The paperwork was filled in and we've just made minor corrections.
It was 10.30 when we got called to desk 40.
From the first minute on that guy treated us like crap. He literally called us stupid just because I couldn't remember the house numbers of the places I have lived at. I have moved so many times in the past ten years that I am glad that I remember the streetnames. Ten years ago the last thing I worried about was keeping track of the places I have lived in so I left it blank.
So he told us that we can't leave it blank and that I can put in question marks. He also told my husband that he has to put my name right below his and if we have no kids, he should write "No Kids" (REALLY?). I was standing right next to him and heard exactly what he said and saw how he circled the area in with red ink.
My husband filled it in and when we came back the same guy told us that we have to fill in a new form because my name shouldn't be there. REALLY? HE JUST TOLD US to fill in the form and to put my name underneath his and now he made us fill in another form.
By the time we were done with everything the entire consulate was deserted. Only another couple from K-town was with us and they pretty much had the same problems we had.
The last customer left the desk and all of a sudden the counselor was gone too. The four of us waited patiently... five minutes went by, ten minutes went by, half an hour went by and than the cleaning lady showed up and cleaned the floor.
We went downstairs to see the information but that was closed too. Except for desk 22 everything was closed. By that time we were in there for three hours waiting and they just left us without any notification that they would close down. WTF? REALLY?
So we asked the security person who called somebody and five minutes later another counselor showed up to take care of our paperwork. Our questions didn't really get answered and you could clearly see that they didn't want to serve us. I know they have to deal with customers all day long but that doesn't mean that you should treat people like crap and make them feel like it's too much to ask a question. We weren't even rude or anything but I was about to get really mad and we are even thinking about writing my husbands congressman.
By the time we turned in the paperwork upstairs I was completely stressed out and literally wanted to cry. I've been reading up on this for ages. I have done so much research but this was totally unexpected.
However, we've paid 355 Dollars for the first package and received a paper that we will get reimbursed because we are PCS'ing. That guy from desk 22 was the only decent person. He explained that I should collect all the receipts, attach that reimbursement paper to it and once we are done with everything we can turn it in with finance and would get the money back.
However, I am glad that this day is over. All in all it took us five hours, five damn hours to turn in the first package for the greencard.

goodness that sucks!! I'm sorry, I would have been highly irritated as well. Go home and play with the babies and it will start to fade :) feel better!
That's terrible! What the hell happened to customer service? This post makes me pissed, I'm sorry you were treated so poorly!
It wasn't even that busy and one girl left. She said she could not handle it and would send it in via mail which we were told to avoid at all costs and simply invest the time and sit it out to go there.
It is extremely hard not to get mad and not to yell at that guy. Hopefully we don't have to deal with the same guy at our second appointment because I do not know if I can handle that guy one more time.
omg I can only admire your patience. I think I would have yelled at some point trying to put some pressure on those /%&/(. I mean hello, who are they to treat anyone else like that??? Stuff like that makes me reeeeally angry.
Don't take it personally... they were like that to us when I was getting my green card in Texas. The only people who were nice to us the entire time was the guy who did our interview and the lady who did my biometrics.
Even now, when I have my green card, I am looking to renew it and they are just as bad. I've been given false information SO MANY TIMES by the helpline, sent i so many different directions and urgh... it's just a nightmare.
P.S. You're lucky you're getting a reimbursement! We didn't and so far this nonsense has cost us over $800!
