I was sitting on the bench. All by my own. Nobody else was there, just me. Quasi was on the field and playing with another guy. The other guy was from the opposite team they were playing against today. They were just shooting some balls. I thought I'd write a letter to our adopted Soldier when SGT W. came in. He walked up to me "Hey, you don't have to write him love letters." I had troubles to understand him because of his weird accent. You know, he has this stereotype accent that you see in the movies. The way "black" people talk. I thought it was a stereotype but apparently some people really talk like that. I don't want to offend anyone but I just have troubles to understand him.
"Excuse me?" I said. "You don't have to write him love letters." he repeated.
"Ah, I am not writing him love letters, I am writing to our adopted Soldier who is downrange."
"Nobody adopted my ass when I was downrange."
"Well, I am doing this for quite a while and we just thought we'd adopt a Soldier together, you know. "
"At least someone is looking out for us." he said with a smile, dropped off his duffel bag and went to the locker room to change.
Later on more and more people came to watch the game. So was SGT S's wifey with her beautiful baby girl. She recognized me. "Mrs K?" she asked me. I thought it was funny that she called me that because we are not married yet. To them I am the future Mrs. K which makes me his wife so it is legible to call me Mrs K. instead of using my name, maybe it's because they just don't know my name LOL. I like it and so does he. When he opens a door for me he usually says "Mrs K" and leads me inside. I love when he is doing that.
So she recognized me. I was glad somebody did because I was sitting all on my own but at the same time I didn't want to join anyone. She said "How is it going?" and I said that I am alright and asked her the same question but did not get up to join her because I ... I don't know why I didn't join her. I am a very social person and have no problems to get to meet new people but somehow I just wanted to be on my own to watch the game.
A lot of Soldiers came in to join us on the Bench but they weren't there to support our team. I don't know why that is, sometimes there are only three or four people on the bench who support our team and I am usually the only one cheering. Sometimes I am the only one there for our team but I still continue to come because I know of how important it is to Quasi that I am there. We don't suck. Well maybe we do a little bit but every team has issues. However I just believe that there should be more support from their fellow Soldiers.
Nevertheless we still won the game. WOHOO!
They rocked that place today and I am so happy they did win. Last time they lost even though they played incredibly good. It was a breathtaking game and one point made the difference. But today was better. They were leading from the start and held their leading position until the very end and won.

Hehe, I laughed out loud at this. The longer I'm away from the US the more the different accents stand out to me and sound really extreme and - yes - stereotypical! Stereotypes usually have some basis in reality, I guess.
Yeah it is the same with German accents. My friend from Muenster could not understand a word my dad was saying and both of them are German. Especially this area has very strong accents.
