Major Breakthrough with Yukon

We've been seeing Yukon eight weeks before we took him to our place. We now have him a little over five weeks, if not 6 weeks already and in all the time Yukon was kind of suspicious towards my husband. He would not listen, he would not go to him, just running around him in circles. Since he was abused by a man I wasn't surprised at all. I knew it's going to take a while and yesterday evening we've had a major breakthrough.

Actually not just yesterday evening, the whole day has been a success.
I visited a friend whose blog I read for quite a while now. I've always enjoyed her comments because she's down-to-earth, wise and has a lot of experience with military life. Now that she moved over and lives pretty darn close we've decided to meet up yesterday. She is exactly what I expected. Not afraid of saying what she thinks, openminded and hearty. I loved being around from the first minute and I can learn A LOT from that woman :)

However, Yukon was nervous, exhilerated and curious the same time. Ears up, running around Anne's table, walking from one spot to another but he wouldn't let the kids touch him but if they'd seen him weeks ago they'd know what rapid strides he's doing.

We went to the dog park together. Yukon was off the leash while we talked about god and the world. There was a little small puddle and guess who was the first one to lay in there?

RRRIIIGHT! My dear Yukon loves water, especially if it's dirty stinking water. He's the first one to jump in, roll around and lay in there. LOL

Later on we walked around the block and went to her house. I felt so sorry because my dirty wet dog left a mess in her house and they've just moved in. Since everything was new and so exciting and he was nervous the same time plus being shy on top of that he continuted to run around the table. Curious as he is he would look at everything but hide instantly if there'd be somthing suspicious to him.

However, the whole day was definitely a major breakthrough. Even though he was suspicious he was not as scared as he used to be. He had his ears up and paid attention to everything and that is something he didn't do five weeks ago.

When we left (after leaving a hell of a mess behind and I still feel so sorry for that) and got home Yukon dared to jump in the bed. The reason I say "dared" is because hubby was in there. Usually Yukon would not cuddle up with him but yesterday he did.

I know, I know a big ass dog like him should not be in the bed but it's to late already hahaha and he's such a cuddler that you can't say no plus him cuddling up with my husband yesterday is such a major breakthrough that we could not throw him out at all. This was way to precious and one big step for him. The ice between him and my husband is broken. Now we can go from there. He was so scared of men in particular that this is one big step forward.

Don't feel bad about the "mess" he is a dog. it is what dogs do, leave mess... I only had to wait until the kids and the hubby were out. and I just broomed the dry dust. and mop it took me 2 mn max. Beside it was something that I needed to do, so... it gave me the excuse of shaking my booty and make my dining room clean! Thanks yukon at least you made me be... clean yesterday! ;-)
Thanks for the ... compliments, I love meeting you and we (my hub and I) really like you too! Can't wait until we meet the man of your life! ;0)
