...well, it is on his AKO, so it is pretty much a given that we go there.
I've been looking up off post housing and did some research. Holy cow, this is going to be a tough one. Finding a place that will allow ANY dogs at all, let alone three German Shepherds is going to be hard and we are definitely not ready to buy a place.
However, we have time until December and that should definitely enough time to find a home in or outside that area. It is a beautiful place with lots of country and woods. Perfect place for me. In winter, however there is loooots of snow and like I said before we will move there in the MIDDLE of Winter. That's going to be looots of fun. Especially for hubby, he hates the cold.

Oh no, are you leaving Germany?? ..I was inwardly hoping to get a chance to meet you when we get over there late this year. :(
Good luck finding a place to live that will allow your dogs! I know that is a must!
Depending what time you get here we might be able to meet up anyway :)
Yeah, it is definitely a MUST to bring the dogs. I was told that there are a few places that would take pets and housing would allow more than two too. I definitely have to look into that :)
sounds good. I guess with 3 dogs housing is not an option. It will be really hard to find a place which allows 3 dogs. Most pet owner with two dogs already have trouble finding rentals. Good luck.
S, yes especially the area we are going in seems to be one of the worst of all. But I was told by someone that lived there already that housing actually makes exceptions for three pets. So maybe we get lucky and can live on post afterall. However I already started looking :)
Well it is hard just about anywhere in the States to find a palce that allows dogs over 30 lbs let alone 2 big dogs(or even 3) and if you are lucky to find one then they ask for huge non-refundable pet fees( we paid $750 per dog) and sometimes a monthly pet rent.Crazy!
Btw,housing stateside is usually pretty tough and won`t make any exceptions since you have the option to live off post.
You might also want to check into shipping the pets cause most airlines have a heat embargo which also counts for cold weather because they have to let the dogs in the crates sitting out on the tarmac until all the luggage is unloaded,...something else to think about.Another a hotel that allows dogs, rental car big enough for 3 huge crates,.........lots of planning ahead of you.Good Luck!
Pet Air in Frankfurt is a great pet shipping company, cost me $1100 for my lab though.
That sounds truly crazy.
I have a bit support from some other German Shepherd people that had the same issue of finding a place with big dogs.
Thank god we have enough time to plan ahead. I already talked to my parents and if there is any embargo at all they can stay with my parents as long as they have to. That way we can go ahead and sort things out without having to worry about the three monsters :).
Yes, I talked with Pet Air already, they sound like a good way to go. 1100USD for a single dog? That is crazy. I was told that both of the old sheperds would cost us 1000-1300 Euros to ship them over.
