But I am not sure how far honesty goes in the dog world because it doesn't matter where you go, what breed we are talking about, when it comes up to breeding it's all about money just like in any other branch. There is so much corruption in the show-ring and in the working dog trials it's not even funny. It's a Billion Dollar business.
Money rules the world and it also rules the world of dogs. I am so sick and tired about people that are like "Every day another dumb wakes up..."
People who will sell you a dog even though they know it's too much of a dog for you just because they can get money out of you. I am sick and tired about people producing more and more puppies not caring where they end up.
I don't want to know how many imported German Shepherds sit in US Kill Shelters and the breeders just don't care and keep producing. I was asked if I would breed with my male. To be honest, Dad and I talked about it but I wouldn't feel good about it. Breeding means a lot of responsibility and I don't want to produce pups and more dogs. I want to be responsible about it.
Both, Indra and Yukon would fit perfectly to each other but who would buy those pups?
Where would they end up?
How do I make sure that they will be x-rayed and medically cared for?
How can I make sure that they don't go through the same abusive hands Yukon did?
I don't want my bitch to pop out pups and just sell them to the very next person just because I can. Both dogs have strong pedigrees. Strong working lines. Those pups would not be low drive dogs. They would need a job and to be worked and to sell dogs to the very next person, knowing that they have no idea what they get themselves into would be irresponsible to say the least.
Or knowing that something is wrong with a dog and selling it, just to get rid of it and to have it off your hands... I couldn't do it unless the buyer knows exactly what they get themselves into. But not everybody thinks that way. All they want is to get rid of the dog.
Another important factor is, how much would you charge? You charge not enough, people think there is something wrong. Do you charge too much, people think you'll rip them off. There needs to be a balance and it's not easy to find it.
To me, there is a need to Ethics and Morals in the dog world just like everywhere else. Just because you could screw somebody over, doesn't make it right.
Just because you have an intact bitch and an intact male doesn't make it right to produce more pups. They are breathing, living, feeling. They are individuals and we should treat them right.. but what am I saying. We can't even treat our own people the right way, how are we supposed to treat our pets the right way then?

I see people on Craigslist all the time that carelessly breed random dogs together and sell puppies for hundreds of dollars claiming they are designer breeds and it makes me sick. There was a pitbull breeder that was selling a litter of pups and I went with a friend to see them and they were all sick with parvo and the lady wanted to get rid of them "for cheap" because she couldn't take them to the vet to get shots and medication. It's disgusting how irresponsible people are:(
Yeah, those are the breeders that give responsible breeders a bad name.
It truly is disgusting. If somebody can't even afford the medical part they shouldn't be breeding at all. Poor pups. Parvo is pretty much a death sentence... :(
