So far we've only build up in Schutzhund and I've done most of the Obedience work at home. Today I went to the regular training hours because I wanted to work Yukon and the other two in obedience and show my helper what we got.
He used to be a judge for over twenty years so I knew he would be upfront and let me know if we wouldn't be ready.
So we were sitting in the Club House and I fixed my treat bag, pulled out the clicker and he was like "What's that?" and I told him that it is a clicker and learned that he doesn't care much for clicker work, in fact... he believes that it is all bogus. None of them has ever worked with a clicker and of course some had stories that it did not work for somebody else and that's why they wouldn't use it. So I knew that none of them didn't know anything about it.
I've tried to explain that I had to find a way to train Yukon and that I needed a way to build trust and confidence. So my helper was like "Don't talk, show it!"
So I went outside, took Yukon out of the box, leashed him, had the leash in my left hand, the clicker and the treats in the right hand. I let him sit right before the gate, opened the gate and he waited patiently.
"Fuss!" I said and heeled in. I hope it doesn't sound like I am tooting my horn or bragging too much but he heeled perfectly. He's in an excellent condition and the table-training paid off! Oh my god, his focus on me was just perfect and I was literally cheering inside.
I've made a left turn, right turn, went in circles, let him sit and walked off - stopped and came back.
"Fuss!" and off we heeled again. "PLATZ!" (down) and he did it! He did it! He went down. Off I walked and then I recalled him. He loaped towards me and sat right in front of me and this time it was perfectly straight. Usually he's cricked but like I said, the table-training paid off.
I rewarded him with the Kong and once we were done performing I put him back into the box to work Indra & Zenzy.
When I went back to the Club House my helper said that I am ready to take the BH and that he thought it'd be much much worse than what he saw and I didn't hear any other word and joke about the clicker again.
WOHOO! Now all I have to do is to memorize and train the pattern and pass the test!
Anyhow, after we were done with Obedience he put on the protection clothing for Schutzhund training. I asked one of the ladies to take a video of Indra and me.
