Monday I wanted to drive up my favorite hiking route and go on a hike. I knew I had to get out and blow off some steam. However, the car took until 1800. Hubby was home 1830 and I knew that I'd never make it up there before it got dark. So I did something I usually don't do, I took them to the dog park.
First we were alone and I let the dogs run a little, than a british couple joined with their two dogs and I had to take Zenzy out. Since I know how she is with other dogs I immediately take her out and I cannot stress it enough with other people. If you know that your dog doesn't like other dogs, don't wait until something happens. There is no justification and it's unbelievably irresponsible when you let your dog get together with other dogs even though you know that he's not good and dog reactive.
A third guy and his cattle dog came in. That cattle dog seemed to be very well behaved and trained. It was the first dog I saw over at PHV that truly responded to his trainer and actually paid attention to him.
The british couple left and I let Indra and Yukon run with the cattle dog. The dogs owner couldn't help it but say "Man, those are badass looking dogs." I thanked him and told him how gorgeous his dog is and it's true, the cattle dog is a gorgeous bitch. I really liked her, not only because she's very well behaved but because she's agile, energetic, playful and overall a pretty girl. He repeated himself like three times and they more he said it the prouder I got. It's not like I don't know that I've got badass looking dogs but it absolutely made my day.
