Today I went to the dog club a little outside of town. Since my helper went into retirement I am not only without a helper but without a mentor and the past two months I am in Germany I'd like to keep training at least with Indra. She's the youngest and she needs the training more than the other two. Yukon and Zenzy are at a point where I can fully trust them to obey any command I give them but Indra is going through puberty and she's at a point where she's testing me. I know my boundaries and I am not ashamed to ask for help when there is an issue where I am at a loss and it's just overall easier to have somebody watch you who can point out things that you would have never guessed yourself.
So I went to a German Shepherd Club, we have four in town. One is not so far away but the stuff they teach doesn't work for me. I am not an absolute beginner and to advanced for them. The other Club I went to doesn't train when it rains and I was like "You got to be kidding me!" and the lady said that she was serious. They don't train when it's raining.
Heck, it's not like we are talking about agility. I am talking about plain ol' obedience and to call off obedience training because it's raining... come on, that's lame and I can't take anyone serious that's not out there training. Now if it's pouring down like crazy or hailing I can understand but rain? Really?
No wonder my old helper told me not to go there in the first place.

I really don't get the thing with not training dogs when it rains, people say that around here too. I mean, you still have to exercise the dogs and be out in the rain, why not train? As I see it, it's less people out when it's raining and I can have the dogs loose on places where I usually can't, like the beach, so I love when it rains :D
